Template creators10 minutes
Before you begin
- Template creation permission
- A supported source document that is not password protected
What you will complete
- A named template with rendered pages and assigned signer roles
Choose the document source
- Upload accepts PDF, DOCX, and HTML documents.
- Google Drive import is available when the deployment owner has configured the Drive Picker integration.
- DOCX is best when you need merge variables; PDF is best when page geometry must remain fixed.
Upload and render
- 1Create the templateFrom Templates, select New template, provide a clear business name, and choose the source.
- 2Wait for the previewsSigna processes the source and creates page previews. Do not place fields until each page is visible.
- 3Check the sourceConfirm page count, orientation, fonts, and line wrapping. Replace the document before adding fields if the rendering is incorrect.
Password-protected PDFs, XFA forms, and malformed files may not render. Export a standard PDF and upload it again.
Manage the reusable record
The template detail page provides Edit, Preview, Send, Sign yourself, Clone, Archive, document replacement, submission export, version history, and activity.
Clone before making a materially different workflow. Replace documents only when existing field positions can be reviewed again.
